The Sackville Curling Club hosted a junior cash spiel with 12 teams (any combination of genders allowed) from all three Maritime provinces attending. It was a great weekend, with many close games and spectacular shot-making on display.

In the final Team Trites went up against Team Fullerton, who is on their way to the Junior Nationals in Quebec January 16-24 (the women's champions representing PEI).

The games played for 3rd - 6th placing were previews of some of the contests upcoming in the Canada Games Selection Spiels of New Brunswick (for the girls - Ward and Nason) and Nova Scotia (boys' teams Mayhew and Brophy).

The games were timed, which was a new experience for most of the curlers, and so the weekend schedule progressed smoothly, with no delays and many games commencing early.

     The Trites curling team, made up of two boys from Sackville, one from Oromocto, and one from Bathurst, have qualified #1 in the Province by winning the first Qualifying Spiel for the 2011 Canada Games in Halifax.

     This accomplishment marks a milestone for our team (all are 16 years old), and an important step in our quest for the chance to represent New Brunswick at the Canada Winter Games. The final team selection will take place in January 2010; we will need to win that selection tournament to become New Brunswick’s team for the 2011 Games.
